A Syrian refugee family faces an unexpected and terrifying manifestation of their grief, forcing each of them to confront a recent loss in ways they could not fathom.
THE DOOR has an interesting twist. It starts out as a drama, then delves into a psychological thriller, unexpectedly, in a new take on a refugee story. THE DOOR follows a Syrian refugee family who moves to Canada after suffering a terrible loss. Each of the family members grieves the loss in their own way; Hashem, an eight-year-old goes mute, his grandmother silently grieves the loss of her country and daughter by staying in bed, while his father suppresses his grief to be strong and support his family. While Hashem and his grandmother face the loss in their own unique way, the father's repressed trauma starts to take over his life and haunt him and his family in ways he can't escape
