Sharine Atif is an American Egyptian independent filmmaker. A graduate from CalArts in 2017 with an MFA in Film Directing. As an independent filmmaker, Sharine experiments with different strategies and devices to learn how best to create change through cinema, by using confrontation, humor, subtlety, tenderness and/ or aggression, highlighting the empowered woman. Her short docu-drama ‘His Cucumber' 2015, recaptures the story of a woman who confronts her harasser while at the market. The film was screened at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York City 2017. Her most recent film 'Jebel Banat' 2018 won the Student Visionary Award at Tribeca Film Festival 2019. Sharine is currently residing in Cairo working on her next short film project "Have A Nice Day“..
