Hana Mahmoud is a young Egyptian filmmaker. She studied cinema in the American University in Cairo where she independently made many short films most of which are expressionistic self-portraits. After graduating with a bachelor of arts in film, Hana started working in the directing team of the leading Egyptian filmmaker Marwan Hamed on big production films like (Diamond Dust, 2018) and (Blue Elephant 2) along with maintaining her independent film career. Her films: Tark (4’, 2017) , Excuse my ugliness (6’, 2016) and Layal ( 6’, 2015) were screened in the international fine arts students’ conference (IFASC). ‘Zay el Shams’ translated: ‘Like the Sun’ is her latest work and it is a real personal experience. The film won four awards in Egypt including Best film, best script and best sound design. .
