An odd man desperately attempts to extend the visit of a young woman hoping to rent out his flat.
The landlord of an apartment in the heart of Cairo is a volatile, lonely, and anxious man. His demeanor is unsettling at best. Most of his understanding of the world outside his environment only goes as far as the internet will take him. He’s determined to win over and prolong the companionship he believes will ease his suffering. The potential tenant who comes to see the apartment is unskilled at reading most social cues outside of her sheltered bubble. Her recent move to Cairo allows her to maintain a fairly romanticized image of the chaotic city and its people. She is oblivious to the initial red flags of the awkward conversation even though the urgent and intrusive nature of the landlord’s conversation leaves her feeling uneasy. The landlord’s break into a world forbidden to him proves complicated when his hopes, that a long enough conversation in his home would be the key to said world, are met with the unimpressed young woman hoping to rent his flat.
