Short Synopsis (English)

A story of good and evil, internment and redemption, Plumes Blanches tells the story of Alain, a young Burkinabé boy accused of witchcraft and his audacious attempt to escape from the impending desolation.

Long Synopsis (English)

The story follows a young boy in the outskirts of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, accused of being a witch by the religious leaders at a nearby church. The priests tell the family that child witch will bring destruction, disease and death to his family and offer their help to cleanse the young boy of evil spirits. But they tell them they’d have to pay a hefty price for the ceremonial. His parents, underprivileged and economically disadvantaged for such a pricey endeavor, offer the boy to the priests from the fear of social exclusion and witchcraft. The priests then take the boy to perform their rite at a ceremonial called deliverance where they attempt to drive out evil spirits. The parents hope the ritual works and they would get back their child safe, and free of evil spirits. Alas, in the eyes of the priests the ritual fails as the evil spirits couldn’t be forced out. The priests tell the parents they have to give up the child to be killed as the ritual bore no fruit. The parents, left with no choices decide to give up the boy for a purge. The boy, aware of such ceremonial from past experiences in the neighborhood, embarks on an audacious attempt to escape the wretched dawn that awaits him.
