Welcome to i am a film.
Maria Chiara Fadda
The Sandalia Sustainability Film Festival has a role of relief in sensitizing people on sustainability thematics through audio-visual works, offering an opportunity of comparison with ideas of people coming from every part of the world, promoting in this way values, spreading knowledge and techniques, with the target to induce virtuous behaviors, for a present and a future sustainable. We start from the assumption that the first step for the awakening of consciences is to be able to access the right information, intending with this the information purified by political, economic and speculative affairs, the one that also reveals the truths which are often
hidden.
We think that the audio-visual medium - whether it's a documentary, a work of fiction, animation, a docu-fiction, a mockumentary or any other genre - is a very effective medium to inform emotionally, to suggest new possible existential models, to bring new solutions to problems, to connect people from all over the world, in order to safeguard Mother Earth and for a present and a future dignitously and happily livable for everyone.
The Festival takes place in Sardinia, and in this edition it will take place, always in itinerant form, between the end of July and the beginning of October, also involving the Schools.
In the various stages will be screened all the films in competition and even some out of competition,
and there will be workshops, meetings with filmmakers, seminars, conferences, shows, markets, all about cinema and sustainability.
Art. 1 CONTEST
A Sustainability Film Awards Competition is part of the Festival, of which the present 2017 Regulations. The Social Promotion Association Anima Libera, hereinafter referred to as Organization, is the Competition referent.
Art.2 THEMES
All aspects of sustainability, at the discretion of the proposer, are admissible; It will then be the Preselection Commission to evaluate whether the topic of the film is on the theme and to assess the presence of a minimum of technical-artistic requirements to be admitted to the competition.
The film may be a denunciation - thus showing situations that do not respect the principles of sustainability - or valorize sustainable practices. Both types of films are important and admissible, since the first step towards a more sustainable world is to deeply understand all aspects of what humans do, both individuals and groups, and in many cases this means to show unsustainable situations, and even situations that seem sustainable though they are not, giving all the information needed to make it clear why they aren’t.
The following list sets out some of the areas that the subject of the proposed film may look like: some areas relate to unsustainable practices, others are virtuous models of sustainability, and others more are generic areas in which both non-sustainable and sustainable practices can be carried out . As mentioned above, we believe that highlighting unsustainable choices and actions is one of the steps to get them into practice - and to demand that they be put into practice - sustainable choices and actions.
