About Aswan International Woman Film Festival

I AM Aswan International Woman Film Festival

The festival is organized by the official NGO bearing the name of the festival, which is a non-profit organization operating under Egyptian law. The festival is sponsored directly by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and approved unanimously by the Supreme Committee of the festivals. The festival operates on cooperation and partnership with the National Council for Women and the province of Aswan protocol. .

    Subject 1: AIWFF is an annual event held by Aswan Woman Film Festival association from the 21st of February to the 28th.
    Subject 2: The Festival aims to shed light on the issues and worries related to women and their ability to create.
    Subject 3: film of the contest are chosen by a committee of critics, filmmakers, and intellectuals.
    Subject 4: the festivals consists of the following sections:
    Section 1:
    -international contest for long documentary, feature film, and motion picture (more than 60 mins).
    - international contest for short documentary, feature film, and motion picture (less than 30 mins).
    -formal section not related to contest.
    -the Egyptian film program.
    - programs with variety of themes.
    Section 2:
    -Abu Simbel Salon for film producers.
    Section 3:
    -Knott forum for women’s issues.
    Section 4:
    - Cinematic workshops.

    Subject 5: the administration of the festival is to choose the judges of the long motion picture contest providing that no member is to be related to any of the films participating in the contest.
    Subject 6: Awards to be given by the judges,
    - Best Film Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Assia Dagher), given to the producer.
    - Best Judgment Committee Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Rashida Abdul Salam).
    -Best Directing Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Bahiga Hafez).
    - Best Actress Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Soad Hosni).
    - Best Actor Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Nadia Lutfi).
    - Best Screenplay Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Latifa al-Zayyat).
    Subject 7: the administration of the festival is to choose the judges of the short motion picture contest providing that no member to be related to any of the films participating in the contest.
    Subject 8: Awards to be given by the judges,
    Best Film Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Assia Dagher), given to the producer.

    Best Judgment Committee Award (Isis statue with a certificate in the name of Rashida Abdul Salam).
    Subject 9: It is possible for others to present their own awards in agreement with the festival administration.
    Subject 10: films are to be participated through a direct invitation from the festival administration.
    Subject 11: films could participate from the 20th of September to the 20th of December.
    Subject 12: for participation in the international contest and special shows, It is required that:
    The film was produced in 2015 or 2016
    The film was not displayed in Egypt
    The application form was filled on the website of the festival www.aiwff.org
    A link and password of the film were sent to the administration of the festival.In case the director or the producer wanted to send a DVD version of the film, it would be sent on the expanse of the applicant to the following address, 4 el Yousr St. off Maka St. – Dokki – Giza – Egypt – 3rd floor – apartment 11. The title of the film and the name of the director should be written on the envelope in addition the phrase, “Without commercial value and for cultural purposes only.”

    In case the fim got selected, please send the following material to films@aiwff.org with a deadline of 10/1/2017,

    -“Materials”: footage from the film, an introduction of the film makers, lists of their films, and a photo of the director, three minutes of the film for promotional purposes, the film’s dialogue in English.

    Send a copy of the film for display with the film poster to the festival address at the expense of the festival administration with a deadline of 20/1 with the following conditions,

    The film version is to be DCP version or Blu Ray

    The language should be that of the origins of the film with English subtitles.

    Subject 13: the film is only displayed twice during the festival and it could be redisplayed in other places for promotional purposes providing the agreement of the responsible part.
    Subject 14: The film may not be withdrawn for any reasons after being chosen for display and product approval.
    Subject 15: the administration of the festival is to insure the copies of display as long as the copies are in their possession
    Subject 16: The festival administration is to bear the costs of returning the display copies before March 15, 2017.
    Subject 17: Participating in the festival implies acceptance of all the stated regulations which are developed in Arabic and English and are subject to the Egyptian laws and any significant Arab text odds.
    Subject 18: No reasons would be given for whether a film is accepted or not, as the selection process is the absolute authority of the committees festival.
    Subject 19: The administration of the festival will not return any of the material sent by the applicants, to participate again, to the owners..
