I AM Nova Frontier Film Festival

Nova Frontier Film Festival and Lab is a timely, narrative, documentary and experimental film festival, passionately committed to enhancing the visibility of filmmakers from the African diasporas, Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East, situated in Brooklyn, New York and Marseille, France - Cities which serves as a nexus between these regions. With a program of on-going film screenings, workshops, conferences, lectures, and concerts, we aim to create a hybrid film festival that promotes intercultural understanding and intellectual engagement through the art of cinema, while celebrating, deepening and expanding our connections to diverse communities, cultures and languages in New York, France, other European regions, and globally.. .

Festival Team

    Billy Gerard Frank is a multi-disciplinary artist, filmmaker, Production Designer and founder of Nova Frontier Film Festival and Lab. His own collected, altered, and mix-media art has been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York, London, and the Caribbean and addresses issues of migration, race, and global politics, relating to gay identity and minority status. His work is part of private collections and in prestigious institutions and Museums in New York.

    Lydia Darly is an award winning actress, filmmaker and founder of Nova Frontier Film Festival, born and raised in France of Guadeloupean descent. She was part of several experimental avant-garde theater companies in Paris as a teenager and has worked as an actress and model in Italy. She was featured in Exorcist: The Beginning, directed by Renny Harlin. Lydia studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute in New York and with acting coach and director Jordan Bayne. Lydia was Bayne’s AD on the film The Sea Is All I Know, which featured Academy Award winner, Melissa Leo.
