About Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival

I AM Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival

From November 14 until 19, 2017 the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival will
take place for the 34th time.
The festival is dedicated to regional film production as well as national and international
documentary work in all its variations. Current documentary and artistic experimental
short and feature films will be screened, media installations will be presented
in the exhibition Monitoring and audiovisual performances and VJ-Sets will be
staged at the DokfestLounge. We are inviting to exciting discussions about film and art,
will deal with issues of net culture and will offer hands-on events with the possibility to
network for ambitious up-and-coming filmmakers.
The Kassel Dokfest considers itself as a festival with an international orientation and a
strong focus on new media and the promotion of talented filmmakers.
Selected films from the program will be nominated for one of three cash prizes
worth 12,000 Euros in total such as a production-grant endowed with 3,000 Euros for
accommodation and up to 1,000 Euros for travel costs plus another 4,000 Euros in kind.
We are looking forward to many exciting and inspiring submissions!. .

    Call for Entries
    We now invite all filmmakers, artists, VJs, distributors, producers, gallery owners,
    universities and institutions to submit their most current works and projects to the
    34th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival.
    The entire film program as well as the works for the exhibition Monitoring and the
    performance program will be selected from all submissions. A jury nominates selected
    works from the program for the four awards of the festival (further information at
    www.kasselerdokfest.de/awards). We will also invite and try to enable all participating
    authors and artists to come to Kassel during the festival to join us for discussions.

    When is the deadline?
    The Deadline is July 14, 2017.

    WHAT can be submitted and WHERE?
    We are looking for current films, videos and installation concepts and proposals for
    audiovisual performances and VJ-Sets from the years 2016 and 2017. (Works that have
    been submitted in previous years cannot be submitted again.) There is no restriction
    concerning the length of the submitted work. To ensure a program as current as possible,
    rough cuts of films may be submitted. Please note which corrections are still
    to be made. For film and installation submissions: If the original language version is neither German
    nor English, German or English subtitles must be provided.
    Films as well as installation and audiovisual performance documentations must
    be submitted with a streaming link unlimited in time. Further, for installation and
    audiovisual performance submissions, a project plan, budget and a list of technical
    requirements are needed.
